Rev. & Missus Hawk and daughter Terri
(19 Ponies) traveled to Weippe, Idaho for the Pacific Primitive
Rendezvous (977 miles.) The Rondy was a wonderful, if not
trying, event. The area had seen unseasonal rain which created
some unique obstacles to overcome. We arrived a week early to
help with setting up the site. By Thursday, June 17, the road
had become impassible so those arriving (300+ vehicles) had to
wait in Weippe, population 400+. The Wesleyan church opened its
doors to those stranded and made quite an impression, as did
the rest of the community. Those stranded were all brought in
on Friday after much rock was put on the road, then the fun
began. There were almost 400 camps and over 1,000 in
attendance. We held church services in the "party
tent" next to "rowdy camp" due to inclement
weather. Rev. Hawk was asked to deliver a prayer at
opening ceremonies that was well received. Overall, the event
was wonderful. We met some great people, had over 50 in church
service and were able to personally minister to several. God is
good!
